This cross stitch design was based upon very simple geometric patterns which can be highly effective. It is worked on painted Aida with a high count giving a dense coverage of stitches. The threads used are an ordinary red stranded embroidery cotton and a gold lamé. The gold thread can be difficult to work with as it is quite fragile, so short lengths need to be used. The stitched Aida is sewn onto the purse fastening and is lined with red silk. Cords have been made for the handle and to decorate the purse by twisting embroidery threads together.
