These galleries contain a selection of finished designs and some of the samplers I made while developing different needlework and embroidery techniques.
Hand EmbroideryHand Embroidery
Hand embroidery is what most people think of when embroidery is mentioned, however, with the range of materials available to the modern embroiderer there's a lot more to it than just embroidering table cloths! Here you find many of your favourite stitches, lazy daisy, French knots, and couching for example. When combined with modern fabrics, Bondaweb, transfer foil, texture mediums and a host more products a whole new world emerges.

Machine EmbroideryMachine Embroidery
Free-motion machine embroidery is a favourite technique of mine. It produces great results far quicker than most other embroidery methods, ideal for our busy modern world!

Free-motion machine embroidery uses the sewing machine with a darning foot and the feed dog lowered or covered. It can be a little tricky to get the hang of, but I would recommend you keep on trying. The best thing is that you can do it using almost any sewing machine, you don't need a really fancy and expensive machine.
NeedlepointNeedlepoint
Needlepoint, like cross stitch, is worked on canvas, but in this case mono weave or interlock canvas is normally used. The stitches are all counted, like cross stitch, and range upward in complexity from tent stitch, which is like a half cross stitch.

Many people will think of the painting-like Victorian tapestries worked entirely in tent stitch when the word needlepoint is mentioned, however there is much more variety to needlepoint than that. Again, my aim here is to offer something a little different, taking advantage of modern techniques and ideas.

My free needlepoint design for you to try touches on some of the more modern techniques.
Cross StitchCross Stitch
Cross stitch is perhaps the most popular form of embroidery and is many people's starting point when it comes to discovering stitching. There are many kits on the market but here I have tried to include something a little different.

Cross stitch is ideal for creating relatively hard wearing items such as a purse.
