Here a piece of cotton velvet has been quilted using wadding and a backing of calico. A small mirror has then been applied.
The position of the mirror was carefully marked on the back of the piece and then cable stitching (where a thick thread is wound onto the sewing machine bobbin - see our Tension Techniques Pack) was used. The thick, luscious effect is achieved by using viscose chenille in the bobbin.
