This sample was worked on cotton velvet. Using clear fabric medium, gold lustre powder and lilac glitter crystals several combinations of paint were mixed and were stencilled onto the velvet. The paint was fixed using a heat gun in order to avoid ironing the pile on the velvet flat.
Initially the medium affects the handle of the fabric but after a little manipulation the fabric becomes soft again. It was stitched into by machine to emphasise and add to the stencilled pattern.
