This free-motion machine embroidery also incorporates hand stitching and was created as part of my City and Guilds course work. The design development is featured in "The Design Process".
Layers of silk are stitched down over a padding of felt and decorated with herring bone stitch, satin stitch and machine stitching. Transfer foil applied with Bondaweb creates the shiny areas and the border is of hand dyed cotton velvet. The stitching throughout is simple and uncomplicated in contrast to the overall finished effect.
