Like all my boxes the skeleton is made from a double layer of craft vilene, giving a firm but stitchable base.
The fabric covering the outside of the box was simple calico that was decorated before applying it to the box with paint and painted bonding web. Expanding medium was also added, expanded and painted. Velvet scraps were then applied into the wet paint (using the paint as glue effectively) and stitching was added with both a metallic copper and a metallic red Madeira thread in the needle of the machine.
The box was then made up and lined with red Cotton Velvet.
