This machine embroidery gallery contains pictures and descriptions of some of the machine embroidery projects I have worked on recently. Some of these projects have produced finished items and some are simply examples of various techniques I have been developing.
Blue Flowers This is a very simple machine embroidered, quilted and hand stitched sampler based on a grid pattern.
Indian Purples A second machine embroidered, quilted and hand embroidered sampler. This time the design was based upon patterns taken from an Indian embroidery, however I did not use an Indian colour palet.
Circles This lightly quilted free machine embroidery plays on the distortion that the stitching makes when used on fine, delicate fabrics.
Tufted sample This is one of quite a number of free machine embroidery samples that I have stitched on water soluble fabric.
Rope Sample This is another of the free machine embroidery samples that I have stitched on water soluble fabric, this time over cords, creating a lacy effect.
Album Cover The design source for this free motion machine embroidery album cover was the Arch De Triumph in Paris.
Lilac Tree Bag The design for this bag was inspired by the lilac trees in our garden. It uses both fixed motion and free motion machine embroidery and is further embellished by hand.
Fire One Visits to Iceland and the Volcanos around Sicily inspired this box and the next, machine embroidery is combined with painted bonding web, and expanding medium
Fire Two Again, inspired by the volcanic landscapes of Iceland and Sicily machine embroidery combines with bonding web, expanding medium and beading to create this tall thin box.
The Earth Box Tension techniques on the sewing machine are enhanced with expanding medium, gold paint and beading in this box, complete with lid.
Blue Shisha This sample combines hand and machine embroidery with the use of cotton velvet and glass mirrors to create a sumptuous look.
Red Waves This sample shows another use for cotton velvet. This time stencilled with paints mixed using Clear Fabric Medium and then machine stitched.
