The Candy Squares Needlepoint design is worked on mono weave canvas using only diagonal stitches and stranded cottons.
This means that it does need to be worked on a frame in order to prevent the canvas from distorting.
Satin stitch, Florence stitch (diagonal mosaic stitch), cushion stitch and Scottish stitch all combine to prove that simple stitches can create pleasing designs.
